I want to go to google play store on my computer and get the file. But when I click install it just kind of lets me open the program on my device, but I want the installation file on my PC. I don't see an option for that.

As far as I know, there is no way to get the file on your PC. Play just pushes apps to your device.

Android app cannot run in any PC.
If what you mean is downloading the APK file to your PC, installAirDroid to your phone.
It will allow your phone's data to be accessed from your PC's browser, you can download your app's APK there. (won't work on paid app).

There have to be a way. 2 days after uploading my free game to the play store, I got an email from filedir.com, which said:
"Information about your app "Dracoo Lite" (Android) has been added on FileDir.com". I checked and the apk was there exposed to download, bypassing the google play store.

You can use a file explorer to view the apk on the device. It can also be pushed to a PC via sdk.

I did a search for *.apk in "es file explorer", and I connected the phone via usb and searched the nexus storage on my computer, but couldn't see anything

What's the reason you want the file, OP?
Seems questionable.

I keep backup APK copies of many apps I use, just in case I need them. As for obtaining the APK files for paid apps, you're right that it starts to become questionable.

As mentioned preciously, the only reliable method of 'downloading' an Android application's APK is by pulling it from the local storage on the phone. Someone else will have to jump in with the correct directory; I can't recall for sure offhand.
