Get unlimited data on ungrandfathered lines!

Theres a catch to everything.

I wouldn't say there's a catch to Amazon at all. They are merely trying to aggressively promote their wireless business and they are willing to take little to no profit from it.

Hey guys,

I am with verizon, but never had a smartphone and never had a data plan. I decided recently to get a smartphone, possibly the galaxy nexus, but I would like to have the unlimited data plan with verizon since I love youtube and watching videos. Can you please let me know if that would work for me if I never had a smartphone or a data plan???
I really would not want go to Sprint just for the unlimtied, I am so happy with Verizon, but I know 4GB is not going to be enough for me.

Thanks

Just wanted to give a little update. So I ended up goi[YT][/YT]ng to BB and purchasing the Rezound and RAZR. I called VZW customer service this morning and spoke to a nice rep on the phone (one of the most pleasant customer service calls I've experienced from a cell provider in a while by the way) and told her I was interested in the $29.99 hotspot. She put me hold to add that feature and when she returned, she informed me that it was not possible to add that to my lines. Then she says that she sees that we have the $30 2GB data, which is incorrect (). She proceeds further and asks me if I would like for her to add the $29.99 unlimited data to my lines and this way I won't go over (again,). I told her sure! Got off the phone and checked the RAZR's data widget... It instantly changed from '4GB' to 'unlimited' and the same for the Rezound! Im a happy new VZW customer and I couldn't be happier. So I want to say thanks again to the OP!

I get my phones Tuesday and will be trying to get unlimited the same day. I can't wait I almost went to sprint because of the Unlimited Data. I would have had the data but horrible reception at home and near non-existent at work. So this could be the Holy-Grail for me.

Just tried this. Was denied. The rep told me that I need at least 6 months of service in order to get the unlimited MHS plan. I will have to try again.

Had verizon for a week when i tried this and worked lol

Be vigilant.

Just tried again. Still no go. The rep said that the plan is only for those who are grandfathered in.

Going to try calling every hour. Hopefully someone puts it through.

EDIT: Tried again at 12:24 EST and it went through! Thank you so much AC!!! I love you all! WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I just did this tonight, call and add the $30 hotspot and you'll automatically be upgraded to unlimited. I didn't have to ask or explain anything. Afterwards I logged into my account and got rid of the hotspot and unlimited data remains. Really simple and I hope it sticks.

I am a new/returning VZW customer and got my Rezound for a penny on Amazon Wireless.

Tried this yesterday, 12/04. Worked on the fourth try. First three reps said I must have had the unlimited plan prior to July 2011. One even said I can't get unlimited data on the MHS at all..."The max is 2GB".

The fourth rep was great, saying that "...the system they use to add/delete options is way too complicated". But then she said "Oh wait. Lemme try something here..." She then said she removed my $30 5gig data plan in order to add the $29.99 MHS plan and Lo and Behold, there was the Unlimited Data. She said "Well, I don't think you're supposed to have it as a new customer, but if it lets me do it, who am I to argue?" She asked me to check with MyVerizon while she was still on the phone "...to see if everything looks 'correc't with my account". As soon as I saw Unlimited Data, I was like, "Absolutely! Thank you, Bye!!"

PS...Learned my lesson by NOT mentioning anything about Unlimited Data on the third and fourth try.

Merry Christmas!!

Hello,

If I have to buy an LTE phone, do I have to renew my contract with Verizon?

My contract expires next year in September.

Where would be a good place to buy the LTE phone (and return it in case the unlimited plan does not work for me)

I would really appreciate your help!

has this been proven to only work on LTE phones? one of my lines has a droid x and is stuck with 2gb of data. i would love to get that to unlimited some how.

The unlimited hotspot feature is only available for LTE phones. All of the 3G hotspot plans are tiered.

Thanks for the tip, got this done today. I tried online, gave me an error, saying to call in. Then when I was in the store today looking for the car dock for my rezound, I asked them. They said the promo was only a 6 week thing and was over. Obviously that is not true, and when I called in when I got home, told 'em the MyVerizon told me to call in to get the mobile hotspot activated, they did it without problem. Yep, pretty happy about all of this and the OP needs props for figuring this out.

The wife just got the new phones today so I immediately called Verizon. I mentioned that I tried to add the 4G MHS online and it said to call them. The Rep put me on hold for awhile, but when she came back she said "Ive got some good news I can add the MHS but to do so I am going to have to give you Unlimited Data on your phone as well" I gave her my best fake surprised reaction and thanked her.

I then went online and verified that I do in fact have Unlimited Data on my very first day of new service. Got to thank whoever figured this out. I can't remember the last time I was so excited. It's like I just landed on free parking in Monopoly. YEAH!
