Getting a Droid X off eBay?

First post on here, looking to move over to the Droid X from a Curve 8330. It has served faithfully, but Im starting to get daily battery pulls, slow downs after cleaning the memory out ect ect. And my general disgust with RIM's inability to make a consumer product based on consumer needs rather than adapting their business model OS to consumers. Just make a damn consumer oriented OS already!

Sorry. So a lot of the Xs on eBay look too good to be true. I cant imagine someone letting these phones go for too much under retail, but that seems to be the case. I cant find a no reserve auction and none of the other auctions say reserve not met, like they used to say. I havent used ebay in a long time.

So realistically speaking, what are the average going prices for a slightly used Droid X with a working ESN number? Have the prices dropped significantly since the release in early summer? Possible to pick one up for under 200 bucks?

Im going to check the marketplace here(if you have one. I was too excited to really look around, but I did search before asking.)\

EDIT: So it seems the going rate here is about 400 or 425. Has anyone gotten a screaming deal off eBay or am I more than likely going to be ripped off?

as with any purchase on ebay, just look at the seller reviews, see where they are located ect.

ebay can get you good deals but you really need to do your homework when you're buying from random (non-retail) people.

you might also want to try craigslist, since you get the product in hand before you pay any money.

i've generally sold my phones for about $300-500 depending on when i sell them.

If you see any advertised with bad ESN these will not work on Verizon as they have been blacklisted.

You can however port it to Cricket depending on where you live. I would only use cricket if I didn't travel. The network is actually good in my area. But customer service is non existant.
You get what you pay for.

Pay for any eBay purchases with paypal so you have some recourse should the device be doa or significantly different than the item description. Also, you can buy insurance on eBay purchased phones through squaretrade for a very reasonable price.

Thanks guys. I thought some of these 100 dollar phones that say they are fine are too good to be true. I knew about the ESN thing and many of the ads specifically say that the ESN wont work or that they are clean and will work. BTW curious question, other than being stolen, why would an ESN be blacklisted? Failure to pay your bill?

I found a couple that were no reserve and they were up to 300+ already. Even though the offer doesnt say so, I have to imagine that there is indeed a reserve set. Im just used to seeing a little note that says reserve not met if it has one and hasnt been met yet. Is this now an option on eBay?

reserve auctions should still have disclaimers on them. a lot of people (myself included) don't bother with it, as if you research your item before listing, you can generally see where it will end up.

personally i don't bid on auctions with reserves unless it's already been met.
