Getting a g3 next week

Hi. What is your screen brightness? Mine is set on 80% using Lollipop 5.0 and I'm getting about 3 hours SOT.

80% screen brightness is very high, in my opinion. This will heat the phone up a lot faster, which in turn heats up the battery causing less efficient power usage. The hotter the phone is, the worse battery efficiency you will see. Also, if you use your phone for 4 hours straight (SOT) at let's say 50% brightness, and then compare to the same usage at 50% screen brightness but the phone was used throughout the course of 10 hours instead of 4 but end at 4 hours SOT, you will find that the latter will have more battery left. This is just how batteries work. That is why it is best to avoid using your phone for long, uninterrupted power sessions for maximum battery life. Obviously you don't want to cater your phone phone usage off my advice, but keep in mind this is how it works.

Note: after so many hours, this will begin to even out as standby numbers (which are very good on this phone) will eat into overall battery life.

Screen brightness is set to automatic, as I'm using my phone in different situations throughout the day.
Anyhow, I suppose that with 80% brightnes 3 hour SOT is realistic.

I think it is a little on the low end but not terrible, all things considered (read above).

Something weird has happened. After removing the battery to put in the sim card and powering up the phone again, the battery dropped by about 10 percent....

Just relax and let phone do its magic for a few days.. Everything is ok with battery.
It will be interesting to see your impressions after a week or so.. Please write a short review in few days ;)

Very good so far.
Love the display haha. People say its dim but thats bs, its pretty bright imo

Most people that say this are either out in direct sunlight a lot or have one of the dim lcd screens from a non-LG maker. There is a small batch of them but they were not very bright.

I very much doubt. Since it's plastic, you might be able to polish it away with a cotton bud and a tiny dab of metal polish, if it troubles you, with the surrounding area masked. Or put a piece of screen protector on, which may fill in the scratch, or better still, a coat of clear oil-based varnish. Mainly though, I'd recommend doing nothing, as the safest way.
But if a scratch got onto your laser window, which doesn't matter, your camera lens may also be vulnerable, which does.

Hey apart from getting the l buttons does the latest android lollipop update do anything else for for the g3?

If you mean general improvements to performance or battery life, I didn't notice anything on mine. I didn't notice anything worse about those things either.

Ok i know it's late but i'm getting a g3 next week (i'm in the uk) and i've got some questions....
1.Should i update it to lollipop when i first get it? Are there any problems in lollipop?
2. How good is the battery? Please state screen on time
3. Is there any lag?
4. Are there overheating issues
5. How long have you had the g3 and are you happy with it?

1. sure, no issues with LPop here
2. better than my Optimus G, lasts all day if i dont play games. once played dead trigger 2 for about 3 hours before the 15min warning.
3. No
4. not an issue but gets warm after 45mins of straight gameplay
5. since dec 1 and Yes

Worse than what? I thought you just got this phone & it already came with Lollipop? What are you comparing it to?

What update was it?

Also, some people recommended Factory Resetting a new phone right out of the box. Unless you're already fully set up, it might be worth considering that.
Also also, the phone will be doing a lot of background stuff, being new. Your battery might be poor for the first few days.
