just thought i'd say hi. gotta get my post count up so i can view attachments and whatnot...

thanks, all!
i've been lurking here for a while, and reading up as much as possible (like, i've read most all of it at least once so far) in all the how-to and stuff. so, hopefully i will refrain from any ridiculously ignorant questions. :)

There are no ignorant questions. But a lot of things have been discussed here, so the search button will be your friend. :) Also look at the stickies at the top of the sections. Sometimes people overlook them.

thanks, i'll keep that in mind.

from other forums i've definitely learned that search is my friend. or, the friend of everyone who gets sick of people posting the same questions over and over...

the stickies have been very helpful, i've read about all of them in the Evo forum, as well as in the general help and how to forum. just gotta get the device in my hot little hands to see how i like it. :)

Welcome to the Android army recruit and the Evo which is an excellent phone which I've had is launch. What is your current phone?

i'm coming from a Pre. honestly, i'm not super excited about the switch, and i've gotten to be less so as i've been learning more about using android. it is 100% a hardware thing, this whole phone switch. i'm hoping that the things i can do with an Evo that i can't with a Pre will distract me from how well i like the way the Pre does the things that it can do.

i'll have to actually use the device obviously after having it set up for me, and not just hours and hours of playing with it in the sprint store, before i can say if the things that i am concerned about will turn into a real issue. i'm pretty sure that i'll get used to it quickly enough though, and just learn new ways of doing things that work as well.

I got mine almost 2 weeks ago now and love it.

I miss a physical keyboard, but oh well...this phone is too amazing.

i thought i'd miss the keyboard. almost got the epic instead, but i really hated that one. landscape physical KBs in general i hate. i'm okay with the VKB that the evo has so far. i just have to get used to the fact that i'm going to hit a wrong key now and again, and check things before i sent to avoid the cupertino effect.

I miss my Pre.......actually I dont miss the Pre........I miss webOS. I waited for Palm to give me a reason to stay for soo long it was becoming abusive. The day precentral came out with information that the next device we had been waiting on was the Pre 2......that did it for me. Then I said to myself......what if I keep waiting for thier next attempt and then the phone they come out with isnt what I quite had in mind (which is an EVOish device running webOS).

So I said SCREW it. Grabbed my keys and went down to BB and picked up a EVO. The hardware blows the Pre out of the water. The software gets more done than webOS just not with the same swagger.

We will have to see what Palm has up its sleeves at CES. That will determine whether android is a "short term fling" or a "girl im playing for keeps".

More done but not with the same swagger; couldn't have said it better myself!

I miss the swagger, but am enjoying the abilities of the evo.

Ditto on the seeing what hardware is coming from HP. At least this phone feels like it could last me for a couple years whole I wait.

I switched from the Pre when the Evo first launched....i have to say I loved webos during my time with the Pre I got 5 family members all on webos. But...the Evo hands down is the best phone ever. I haven't been able to put it down since June! Sometimes I get bored with Sense, so I switch to ADW launcher...get bored with that and switch to Launcher Pro...the options available for Android in general keeps me constantly entertained!

You guys are spot on. Too bad we can't merge these qualities and capabilities into one phone. (an OEM release, without major hacking)

That would make for a pretty tasty experience.

No doubt. Seriously, why does it have to be this difficult? An Evo build running WebOS shouldn't be too hard to develop. We landed on the moon (supposedly) and a talking horse had a tv show...seems like we could solve this issue sooner than later.
