Getting files to \system\lib

I am trying to use the Multi-Touch keyboard from XDA developers. There are two files. One is supposed to go into the \system\apps directory and the other into \system\lib per the instructions listed here. Problem is that I can't find those directory when my phone is connected to my windows computer. So I tried using Astrofile to copy and paste the files into there but the paste is greyed out when I get to those directories. Do I have to be rooted to do this? I didn't before my Froyo update.

I really miss that keyboard. It was sooooooo fast and accurate. Way better then any other I have tried.
