I just bought a N1 from Italy, and it came with Android 2.1. Every time, I hit the update button, it said the phone was up to date. Now I am back in Libya (where I work), and it still says it's up to date.

Will I have to install Froyo manually? I think I read that the phone needs to be rooted to be able to do that, correct?

You can install it manually. Or you can just force check for update. do the following for force check.

dial this code to force check : *#*#2432546#*#*

hope that'll help.

Well,I did the force check. It said checking in, but nothing happened. It still says up to date. Maybe I have to wait a bit?

no you dont need to root the phone for a manual update. the files were posted a few weeks ago on the main page of androidcentral. shouldnt be too hard to find

Yes, I did a search, but it gets a bit confusing with the different versions that came out. Is the latest version, frf91?

I found it from this link:
androidcentral.com/another-froyo-ota-nexus-one-frf91-time-around
