So, i bought my gf a pre plus on verizon back when it first came out.. and anticipated getting the Droid Incredible for myself when it was released.. thinking we'd then get the family plan.. Then the EVO was announced and i bailed on verizon and am now with sprint.

Long story short, the pre plus blows.. and we want to get a second EVO for her and switch to sprint. Just wondering, with the recent news that Verizon plans on changing their plans....

Does anyone know if this is grounds to get out of the contract without paying the ETF fee? If Verizon changes the contract, doesn't that make the contract i signed void? Or am i pretty much screwed and going to have to pay the etf? hah..

thanks for any help!

I would guess that speculation on Verizon changing plans is probably not grounds to void the contract and avoid the fee, but who knows.....

They won't change anyone on current plans simply to avoid that situation.

Likely the new tiered system will only apply to new contracts and existing contracts will be grandfathered in.

Yes, Darth Mo is correct. Your plan won't get capped unless you're a new customer BUT, when your contract is up, that might be a different story.

Any changes to rates will NOT change current plans. Verizon's not going to give potentially millions of customers a "get out of contract free" card.

Your contract will not change unless you change it.

And I wouldn't call paying the ETF being screwed. You got a huge discount on a phone for signing the contract. you want to end the contract early, you pay a penalty. Just like a lease on a house.

I believe VZW will just grandfather everyone in, like they've done before.

I hate the ETF fees, but like said above, it's like a lease on a house, apartment, or car. Your other option was to not get a contract and pay for the phone (like a mortgage), but it will cost much more and you don't get a fancy renters' insurance for when the house breaks (ie when you want a new phone and don't get a NE2 upgrade)
