Getting Rid of HTC 10

Except its not subjective at all. The s7 is touted as the best camera buy just about everyone as well as having the much superior screen and battery life as well as waterproofing. So the fact that you prefer the HTC for whatever reason does not make it the best phone for you, only that you don't care to have the best and are willing to settle for whatever tradeoffs that may be.

Samsung may be waterproofed but I don't know anybody personally that goes swimming with their phone in their pocket. On top of that, the S7 and S7 Edge are the biggest fails of drop tests. I don't get how that doesn't ever get counted as a negative against those phones.

Thanks! All I did was point and shoot. The only shots that looked awful were the ones I'd mucked about with the exposure, or it was too dark and there was too much movement. The shots from my Sony 18 megapixel camera looked like rubbish in comparison to the 10.

And I'm not trying to be argumentative by posting this picture. It's just that I'm not seeing the complaints people are making about the camera.

I hope you're not talking about a Sony DSLR....

Taking pics in the pool with friends and family is not uncommon. As fast as drop tests everyone I know has a case on their galaxies. I've had mine for 3 months and I've dropped it a few times no problem.

I disagree. Lets take for example Motor Trends car of the year. Lets say they award the Tesla Model S car of the year and its by far and away the best car ever reviewed. Now you may not be able to afford it or you may need a truck, but that doesn't degrade the fact that the Model S is the best car available. You may settle for an inferior car by all accounts and say that its "best for you" but that doesn't make it overall the best car available based on specs, features, etc. You pull up next to me in your 2015 Maxima while im in my 2016 Model S and yell at me" nice car but my maxima is better because its the best car for me!" Im just going to laugh at you and speed away and leave you in the dust. Things become a little easier when you're talking phones because now a days all flagships have the same processing power and are only distinguished by their standout features. So when the grand majority rate the s7 better than the HTC 10 in almost every aspect and you still decided you want the HTC 10 for whatever reason, you are settling for an inferior product because you want to justify that "sound quality supersedes all" or because you prefer metal compared to glass.

I disagree with this completely. Just because a site says something is the best doesn't always mean it is the best for everyone. That is like saying the best car is "X" and if you don't have it you don't have the best .. Yet the person that doesn't want/have that car needs a truck to do their day-to-day tasks.

We all have different needs so saying something isn't the best for someone is kind of a reach since .. You aren't them and don't know their day to day lives :).

You're absolutely right. We're settling for an inferior product with better services. And a better user interface. And better sound quality.

Better services? if you call uh oh protection a better service then ok...ill take the free gear VR and take my chances with a case. User interface? questionable since anyone can just put google now launcher and have a stock looking device. Sound quality is you're only argument here.

You come across as though you couldn't possibly understand how some people might prefer something else. What's best is a matter of opinion. Reviews and awards are not absolute.

That is a very poor analogy. BTW I could provide a nice list of areas where the Maxima trumps the Tesla, so your argument isn't rational. Again you're talking subjective vs objective rankings of criteria. So why continue to flip-flop between the two when trying to make your point.

If objectivity is being used (since you claim that the S7 being the best isn't subjective), then you are off base by a long shot. Objectively:

1. The rear shooters are tied (output as measured).

2. The S7 has faster autofocus speed and camera application interface launch times.

3. The battery life is nearly tied with either having the advantage in various scenarios.

4. The 10's runtime performance/memory management is better. *hook*

5. The 10's audio performance is better in the functional areas of audio recording (FLAC output) and audio playback (internal and external).

6. The 10's display has the advantage in both responsiveness and sensitivity.

7. The S7 has the distinctive advantage in maximum/min brightness, contrast ratio, and other categories for display output.

8. The S7 has the advantage in the IP rating for water protection.

9. The 10's file transfer rate is faster through its external interface.

10. The 10 has more flexibility for secondary storage (I.e., adaptive storage) and maximum secondary storage size.

Just to name some. If we're talking the S7e, then item #3 goes towards it as being a distinct advantage.

So again are you being objective here or subjective with your conclusion. Also you seem to rely on other people's conclusions to support your opinion, which is hardly an intelligent approach when trying to be objective. Feel free to clarify.

You're welcome to your opinion but please don't go around telling people on the boards they're wrong for liking a phone you don't since .. You aren't them.

Edit - Mod Note: Also let's keep the thread on topic. If you want to argue the S7 / S7 Edge being the best phone send me a PM and I will create a phone war thread for you.

Your responses:
1. The rear shooters are tied (output as measured). - FALSE- EVERY OUTLET HAS THE S7 AS FAR SUPERIOR IN QUALITY
This has been objectively verified via DxOMark test methodology.

2. The S7 has faster autofocus speed and camera application interface launch*times.-FACT-

3. The battery life is nearly tied with either having the advantage in various scenarios.- FALSE- THE S7 HAS MUCH BETTER SOT*
This has been objectively verified by TechRadar and Anandtech using measured results under the same test conditions.

4. The 10's runtime performance/memory management is better. *hook*-FALSE- ACCORDING TO WHO? YOU?

I wrote *hook* for a reason as I knew this would immediately be interrogated. This has been objectively verified by Phonebuff who has preformed an end-to-end test for gauging those items.

5. The 10's audio performance is better in the functional areas of audio recording (FLAC output) and audio playback (internal and external).-FACT-

6. The 10's display has the advantage in both responsiveness and sensitivity.- FALSE- EYE OF THE BEHOLDER AND CAN SWING EITHER WAY
No, not only are you incorrect, but you are also now being subjective instead of staying objective. This indeed can be objectively quantified that the display of the HTC 10 has the lowest response time latency and sensitivity (i.e., glove mode), so no it can't swing either way. I can elaborate even more if you desire.

7. The S7 has the distinctive advantage in maximum/min brightness, contrast ratio, and other categories for display*output.-FACT-

8. The S7 has the advantage in the IP rating for water*protection.-FACT-

9. The 10's file transfer rate is faster through its external*interface.-FACT-

10. The 10 has more flexibility for secondary storage (I.e., adaptive storage) and maximum secondary storage size.-ADAPTIVE STORAGE IS A JOKE, DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO REMOVE SD CARD AND INSERT INTO ANOTHER DEVICE FOR VIEWING. ALSO READS SLOWER THAN INTERNAL STORAGE
Again, you are now being subjective instead of staying objective. It can be quantified that the HTC 10 has more flexibility with the functionality at it's disposal for external storage. IF the HTC 10 does not have more flexible options, then my objective statement is incorrect. Otherwise, you are now going off on a tangent and judging the merits of an advantage vice whether it can be validated.

So again, are you going to stay objective or continue to alternate between being subjective/objective when you feel it is convenient for the argument you're trying to convey? If you're going to be subjective, then it's a moot point in even having this discussion.

Actually the first thing I thought was that I'd be surprised if he wasn't heavily entrenched in the Playstation-XBox fanboy war too. :p

Having used both S7E and HTC 10 now for decent amounts of time, I prefer HTC 10 as it works better for me in all the things that I care about. At no point have I had the urge to run to S7 forum and make my opinion known to everyone over there, and then just keep drilling and drilling it into everyones head claiming it to be a fact. Whats the point? Its pretty clear certain people here arent on the HTC wagon anymore, and thats good for them, but why keep posting here just to push your opinion on everyone else and then to argue with that person when they simply dont agree?

And this does remind me of a PS4 vs Xbox One debate at this point. No one gets anywhere since everyone believes opinions to be fact.

Has anyone been able to use Wi-Fi calling with the unlocked htc 10 and AT&T sim card?

It might just be enabled on iphones which is beyond autistic

I mean, does this make any sense to anyone? Htc supports Wi-Fi calling, and yet AT&T only allows iPhones. Some clients houses I work in have no signal, but great Wi-Fi, so I really need some Wi-Fi calling capability.
