Low light shot. No problems here. If I were you, I'd exchange it for a different one.

Just bought the HTC 10 today after a hiatus for a year. I passed on the M9 because I knew the camera would be garbage and I'm currently the owner of a Nexus 6p as well as the HTC 10. I have to say that I'm really pissed with all of the reviews lauding this phone. It has two major issues IMO. The Wi-Fi connection is wonky AF. My Nexus running side by side with the 10 never lost connection whereas the 10 kept dropping in and out of Wi-Fi. I actually had to turn Wi-Fi off. Part 2, the camera is still a chunk of garbage. And, that's putting it nicely. It won't focus when the light dims and the damn thing still blows out highlights like nobody's business. I love the music processor, but boomsound is considerably weaker than previous versions. I also love how several of the reviewers said that if you cover the bottom speaker it barely affects the sound. That's a straight out lie. You cover the bottom speaker and it's tinsel town city. I get that everyone wants HTC to succeed, but this brand is circling the drain fast and in a hurry. They have to have the worst camera software engineers ever. I don't see how they could mess the camera up with such strong specs, but leave it to HTC to fuk up the camera. I'm just so mad that I believed the hype. The workmanship of the phone is great, but that's just not enough.

What I was hoping for was a camera that could take shots in auto and be serviceable, but it's just not. I don't want to fiddle with pro mode.

If you just bought it today you probably don't have the updated firmware. It addresses these issues.

If you bought it from a carrier you may have to wait until the update reaches your phone. I bought it unlocked and I updated the firmware before I used it for the first time. I haven't taken any low-light photos yet but the pictures I've taken have been excellent, and my WiFi has been flawless.

Well, that's encouraging. I'm definitely not on the latest software based on the article you cited. I wonder when T-Mobile will send out the update? I doubt that exchanging it will solve the issue if all of their devices are running the older HTC software. I'll give it another week before i make my final judgment. But, this doesn't really change my initial assessment of HTC's God awful camera software engineers. They've been bad in camera software engineering for three flagship generations. They should have never let a phone hit the streets needing this much of a camera software update. If I wasn't familiar with the Android community I'd just return this piece of shyt (in its current state) and buy a Samsung.

Just curious if you are running the latest software update. It fixed most of your issues with the phone IMO

Yeah I'm waiting for Sprint to push that update too. Fortunately, I've not had the wifi issues, but there have been a couple of times that the autofocus was wonky. But for me, the rest of the phone is worth waiting for the update. I'm sorry you don't like it, for me this phone is exactly what i wanted.

A hater that spends his hard earned money on an expensive device.....I think you're not too bright.

I don't think one's intelligence is an issue when it comes to how they choose to spend their play money. Not to mention, I always have the option to sell or return a device once I make a decision. I have owned many HTC devices and many of them have had similar issues to the HTC 10. I had the m7,m8, EVO 4g, EVO 3d, and the EVO 4g LTE. Don't call me a hater. It should be obvious that i want HTC to succeed, but because I've bought so many versions of these phones, I also get to give my opinion without being considered a troll or hater. In fact, I would be very qualified to give an honest opinion as my bias is obviously toward HTC rather than against. And, as it stands without the camera update, this camera is garbage and there's no way HTC should have let it hit stores with these issues. They keep shooting themselves in the foot. Are they stupid or what? See these pics attached. The one that has blown highlights and lack of detail is taken with a device that's 8 months newer than my Nexus 6p. WTF!? So, I hope Google does not give HTC the keys to camera software engineering on their next version of the Nexus. Please Google noooooo! Let HTC handle audio, but please restrict then from having any camera software input. They're clueless in a market where everyone that matters are making damn good cameras.

Some of you need to relax and chill a little bit. A forum is for expressing an opinion. I am not here to whine or bash HTC, nor do I play favorites to any particular brand. I go with what suits MY NEEDS best. Jack's Disney World pictures look great, but my experience with the 10 was much different than his. All I did was point and shoot with each camera. With over 400 photos and about 50 videos that I shot, the S7 provided the best results for me. Plain and simple. I like many things about the 10, but for me, the S7 suits my needs better. Unless you have a financial stake in HTC or Samsung, chill out, relax and don't chastise someone for their opinion.

I actually was defending you lol. I was saying he wasn't too bright for calling you a hater that spent hundreds of dollars on a device. You have no reason to hate.

Agreed. I prefer the S7 as well, it's the device in using now.

Looks like only one pic attached here's the other. This one is the Nexus 6p. It's not a beautiful pic. However, it shows how the 6p can show the dim foreground as well being able to see out of a bright window in the background. The HTC 10 completely blows out the leaves from the plant as well as the window. Not to mention, the detail truly suffered on the 10. That's a simple shot that's way too underwhelming regardless of another software update coming due. How does that kind of poor *** imagery make it passed a final inspection?
