Hi Guys,

New here. Getting the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 soon ♥ . Can you help answer the following questions:
1. Does the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 have Gorilla Glass for the screen? If not, what kind of glass is it? Just want to take care of it as best as I can.
2. Does it come with any AV protection and could anyone recommend a program? I see a few folks have recommended AVG. Is it free and good enough?
3. Checking out cases, and can someone recommend one that will really protect it, esp. if it's dropped [on no!!!]
4. Has anyone attached a flash drive to it through USB? Getting an adapter, can it be done?
5. Can you make calls with it? If so, does it go through a carrier and then you have to pay for it? Assuming I would.:-[

1) Yes on Gorilla Glass
2) I don't know
3) I use the Samsung Book Cover, but you seem to want something more Otterboxish. Again, I will leave this reply for someone else.
4) Yes, just can buy a USB OTG adapter that fits the Note 10.1 connector for cheap (on eBay or Amazon), or put out a little extra dough for a branded Samsung version (once again, eBay or Amazon). Your choice.
5) Yes. I use the GrooveIP VOIP app on this and my Asus Transformer TF300. You need a Google Voice app to use it. Get one for your Gmail account and you'll be able to make calls from your pc, and, even better, you will get a phone number. IF you splurge and shell out the $5 to buy the non-free version of GrooveIP, you will be able to receive calls as well as make them on your Note. If you have an application like Poynt, you can use the option to call a business (or whatever) you looked up, and it will automatically connect to GrooveIP and make the call from there. Cool, huh? Since this is a gmail/gvoice VOIP call, it does not go through a carrier, and it costs NUTHIN'. Even cooler, huh?

If you buy the 3G version you can put a sim card in it and make calls, just as with a smartphone, without the hassle frome above

But, with the 3G version, you have to pay and pay and pay. And how often do you really need your 10.1 to make calls? I like have the GrooVe IP option; the 5 bucks I shelled out to get the deluxe version got it for me on both my Note and my Asus Transformer, but, frankly, for a phone, I most often just use my phone. It simply makes sense.

I have the 3g version which really helps when Wi-Fi isn't available, a SIM only cheap contract with call allowance & sms & unlimited data. The joy is that you can put your phone SIM in if your phone's broken.
I've invested in the Samsung HM5100 Bluetooth S Pen which is brilliant for making & receiving calls, it will connect to 2 devices at the same time. It is a stylish S Pen, the size of a regular pen to give you greater control & vibrates when a call comes through, which it answers automatically.

Well, you have a nice setup. I have a tethering plan on my Note 2. which costs way too much, considering how rarely I end up using it, but, I don't want to ever be left unconnected. That Bluetooth pen sounds great, but, the way I lose things, I have to stick with the pen I can keep right in my tab.
