Getting the new HTC One (M8) today !

Re: Getting the new m8 today !

I can't even figure how to get the SD card out! ( how do you do that btw?)

There is a little HTC metal tool in your M8 retail box. That is what you are supposed to use to release the tray. Or paperclip like buck said..

Re: Getting the new m8 today !

The M8 uses screws in place of most of the glue and tape of the M7, which makes it very easy in comparison to remove the back panel. Most of the components are on a panel that sits between the display, battery, and rear case, meaning you should be able to swap it for a new one pretty quickly. :)

Yep, I may need to also do this to replace my scratched up camera lens at some point...

Don't new phones come in a box?
Mine did.

yes, but most dont keep it in the box unless its a gift or something.

He handed it to me, but I carried it to the cashier, and put it in the bag with the other stuff, because I was afraid it would fall out of my work shorts when I got back to my shop.

also made the same move. Had every EVO to date.... sprint is also good in my area...

not meaning to be rude, but who buys a brand new phone and does not walk out with it in hand? who puts it in the bag?

I put my note 3 in the bag when i bought mine... pretty much useless walking home in direct sunlight lol :) Specially with an AMOLED screen lol

Re: Getting the new m8 today !

I still don't understand why you would take it out of the box before getting home?

When I got mine at Verizon they had to take it out to activate it and show me all the bells and whistles I already knew about. Lol

With my M7 I walked in the store with case in hand that I had ordered online. With the M8 I bought one of Verizon's cases in the store at time of purchase.

He didn't put it in the box. He handed it to me. I put it in the bag, with my old evo lte and paperwork., until I got back to my shop to go through the rebate, etc. ($100 rebate ) that's when it fell out as I was walking and putting stuff in the bag.

Oh well, I'm over it now

Re: Getting the new m8 today !

I AM FREAKING PISSED OFF, AND SICK TO MY STOMACH !

so I got the new m8 just now, paid at the cashier. as I was walking out, the phone was loose in the bag, as I was putting my paperwork and old phone in the bag, the brand new 10 second old M8 slipped out of a hole and bounced flat on its back. it survived, but now it has pin hole side concrete marks on the entire back !
my work wouldn't let me get a new one, ( even though I JUST walked out the f-ing door). they said it was dropped.
IT FELL OUT OF THE FREAKING BAG ! THERE WAS A HOLE ON THE SIDE OF THE BAG! how is THAT my fault ?
im mad as hell......

but the phone has character now I guess......

That sucks man. I am so sorry to read that. Post a pic of it so we can mourn together.

While i can understand your thinking (i would probably walk out with it in my pocket), i'm sure PLENTY of people have left a store with thier brand new phone in a bag. So it's not unreasonable.

Re: Getting the new m8 today !

I had a small drop with my phone the second day I owned it. Not so much as a scratch, it was from maybe a foot up as I was sitting down at the time.

I used to work at Best Buy repairing computers. We also handled warranty claims for people who had purchased our extended warranty.

So, this fat lady (yes the description is necessary) came in with a handheld device, I can't remember what.. mp3 player, phone, or something. The screen was cracked and had that black ink looking mark on it when the fluid inside leaks out. The lady told me she sat on it!

I told her warranties do not cover abuse. The lady started getting mad at me and said "Sir, I fail to see how this is abuse". And I said "The phone didn't jump out of it's pocket on it's own. You told me you sat on it.".. well, after that she didn't want to speak with me anymore. I said "No problem, I'll get you a manager".

So I went and got the toughest manager in the store.. the one I thought would totally say no.. he didn't even so much as hesitate. Just boom gave her a new one.

@alemuit: I hear ya. From my experience, though, speed is good. I did run a Speedtest one day with Ookla software and my friend on another company. His was a little faster, but not much. I was through Virgin Mobile at the time.
