Anything I should know before I start it up? I do know I need to charge it immediately and let it charge before I start playing with it, but anything I should get for it in terms of apps, updates, etc?

Charge fully, yes, and then it will need an update. After that, play with it as long as you like. The Android Wear and Moto Connect apps might be useful as well.

Yes, let it charge to 100% before playing with it. Update to current version 5.0.2. Don't be alarmed if battery life is short the first day or two, sometimes it takes a little time for the battery to normalize.
Some apps I like:
- Wear Mini Launcher or SWapp Launcher Wear
- WatchMaker Premium Watch Face
- Find My Phone
- StayLit Wear
- Wear Rotary Calculator
- Calendar for Android Wear
- Vibration Notifier
- Coffee SMS on Android Wear
Some watch faces that I've purchased:
- Charger Watch Face
- Flip Clock Watch Face
- Minimal & Elegant Watch Face
I'm not sure if this is still an issue or not but some people have reported image retention on their watch display due to the fixed clock display while it is sitting in the charger. I put my watch into Theater Mode when charging so I don't have to worry about that. Another option is to use an app called Slumber.

Enjoy!!!

Thanks for the recommendations! It did die extremely fast. Started it up and charged it at about 3. installed the updates, and it dropped to 93 percent in those 8 minutes it took. The topped it off, at about 4:45 I pulled it back off and it got to about 18 percent at 10:30pm.

It should improve greatly over the next day or two.

Wonder why it improves so much. I remember certain phones (about 2 out of the 10 I've had) got great. One being the iPhone plus extending its life about 2 hours more in 2 weeks. This should improve that much over the next two days?

I don't know anything about iPhones, but with my Android phones, tablets and now smartwatch, it is quite typical for battery life to be poor the first day or two after 1) initial setup, 2) installation of an OS update and 3) after performing a factory reset. Apps are syncing and activities are being performed in the background the first day or two. After that, the battery starts to normalize but different people can have different results based on their use, settings and installed apps. Then again, sometimes immediately after an update, I'll see no noticeable change in battery life or if I'm lucky, a slight increase.

Thanks for replying! I appreciate that. I am not facing another issue.. the leather is beginning to rip. I contacted motorola, they are unable to do anything about this and even sent them a picture. They said it's due to "physical damage" and won't replace it. This is right at the point and was repositioning the watch on my wrist a few times and it began to tear. 20150309_072834.jpg

First time I've ever seen that issue. You must have tugged on it pretty hard. Did you get it wet? I have 2 different colored leather bands but don't use them very often. I usually use either my stainless stock Moto metal band or a TYLT silicone band. Both are great and you'd never have to worry about tearing one.

My recommendation would also be to just change the band... I usually use the pebble steel band.

Of course, there is the whole watch case back cracking issue to worry about as well. :(

Not very much no. I am very careful with my stuff. I bent it a bit trying to get it off, and that's when it happened.
