Getting "unable to download message from...

Hi, all. Longtime Galaxy/Verizon customer (S3, Note 4, Note 9, now S24+). After my switch to the S24+ last month, and the switch from Samsung Messages to Google Messages, I am now getting "Unable to download message from (sender)." My message screen shown a downfacing arrow which, if tapped, shows an animated circle around an X. Said "message" never downloads. This might occur just a few minutes after I have had successful text messages with that same user.

My Mobile Data is switched to On
I have full bars of data and strong wifi
Access Point Names is sent to VZWINTERNET (same as on my Note 9 - just checked.)

Any ideas what is causing this, and how I can fix it?

Most likely it's a bug Google has, probably need to report it to them.

Also on Play Store join Google Message Beta, see if this was fixed in the Beta Version.

In settings of Google messages is chats on? And in that same setting is the number register
