Getting voicemail notification but not getting voice mail

Okay: Now I am totally puzzled -- I am not getting voice mail at all. I am getting the GV notification that I have a voicemail, it is transcribed (when it works), but if I call my actual voice mail, I get "you have no new voice mail." Any clue? This is terribly frustrating. I love the GV features, but if I can't actually listen to my voice mails, what good is this doing me?

PS: I STILL cannot access/delete the two "archived" voice mails that I have a notification icon for. The voice mail does not sound like my old voice mail, btw -- there is no listening to archived messages. I get this : "to place a call press a #" and "to change your settings press a #" -- the only settings I can change are my recorded message settings. WTH?

You say you call your actual voicemail....are you trying to access Google Voice mail through your regular phone dialer?

Yes. Is there a reason that you can't do that? Or a setting that allows you to get both the GV vm notifications/transcription as well as access from the dialer? Even with GV, I should be able to actually listen to a vm, no?

I just re-read your other thread.

Did you ever try disabling Google Voice and then accessing your voicemail to get rid of those other notifications?

Also, when I go through the phone's dialer into my GV, I get the same two options as you. I'll send myself a new voicemail from another phone in a minute to try some other stuff out but if I remember correctly, you have to access any old archived messages through the app or the GV website.

Ok, so I sent myself a VM, dialed 1 on the phone dialer....listened to it....hit 7 to mark it read and it was archived....hung up the call...redialed 1 and it only gave me the two options to place a call or change settings. then i went into the GV app and the message was still there and i listened to it no problem. went to the online GV site and its still there to listen to no problem.

So if you take any action on the message through the app or the website, you wont be able to interact with the message anymore through the phone dialer.

I am reluctant to disable GV on my Sprint line because I have read other posts on this forum that warn that if you do that, then you cannot re-enable it.

I did NOT interact with my vm on the app or on the website. They are there, but I am not doing anything with them. However, I cannot listen to vm via the dialer. I can't believe there is not some kind of GV support page @ Sprint or even on the GV page. This is becoming a problem.

There is a vm notificaiton "box" that comes on my phone's screen and allows me to text, etc. but not to listen (unless you want to hear the computer-gen voice transcribe the message). All I do is close that window without interacting with it. I have to close it to use the phone.

Any advice on getting the voicemail to work through both the dialer and the GV?

Did you completely integrate your Sprint cell number into Google Voice or are you just using your old Goovle Voice number and the voicemail feature?

Completely integrated it. I thought it would be easier and still think it can be if I get this vm situation ironed out. I just retested the vm and now, I got one via the handset. I dunno. Maybe it is buggy?

I still cannot get rid of the old vm notification icon -- it is driving me bonkers.

I am having the same issue, my friend who works at best buy mobile who is experiencing the same issue as well with the integrated google voice issues.

This is bs. I might just disable it and not even care. Google or whoever needs to get this freaking problem fixed.

Yeah, the full integration is what seems to be a crap shoot as far as disabling it and being able to reintegrate.

If it makes you feel any better, I went out a couple hours after I posted last and apparently had a call and voicemail. I got no notification of the call OR the voicemail until I got home and saw it on my PC. And as you know, it was all working fine earlier this afternoon when I did the test for you.

Come to think of it, a lot of Google services have been buggy today. I couldn't get to google.com or google plus quite a few times. that mixed with my GV thing, and it very well could just be a bug that you're experiencing.

Thanks all of you for responding. I am glad to know that I'm at least not the only one with this problem. If it continues, I guess I will need to abandon GV integration -- which sucks because this is a feature that really drew me to the NS4G. I love the idea of being able to respond to a vm via text or to have one transcribed if I am in a meeting or doing something where answering the call is not possible.

I seriously hope that Google fixes this. To whom do we complain? Sprint? Google?

you can still use Google Voice to handle all your voicemail duties, including transcription, even if youre not fully integrated.

Sprint's people don't really have the depth of knowledge to deal with most of the Google service problems and of course there's no reliable way to get in touch with Google. You can try the support forums or whatever they call them.
