"Getting your selection"

So I have a Pioneer avh4200nex and a Nexus 6p that is up to date, Spotify that is up to date, and AA is up to date.

When I try to voice search I feel.like.more often than not I get 'getting your selection'

Then it just hangs there. I can't figure it out and it's making me regret my purchase

My voice search never works right until Pandora has found a signal and started its auto play thing. So I just wait until it's started and then it works fine

So I need to plug it in and press play on whatever comes on first before I try to use voice commands?

I have found similar issues and if you have a rooted device you can try changing the CPU Governor to Performance which seems to help me.

I'm not rooted been afraid to.root tbh
