ggogle maps slow or no data connect

Droid Incredible owner here. I updated to the newest version of google maps, and I'm getting the same errors in both maps and navigation (connection errors, maps won't load, directions won't load). I'm in Pittsburgh, PA and I normally have a great connection.

Just went to the market and uninstalled the latest update. I lost navigation and some other features, but at least google maps works now! I recommend everyone else go to the market and do the same.

I haven't done the OTA update and been having the google maps and navigation errors. I thought it was just me. I've been working on the road and not having it work consistently is getting irritating

I got burned by this yesterday, before OTA update. I've been out of country, and wanted to use Maps to navigate home (central PA) from JFK airport.

Normally I use a standalone Garmin unit, but it was more-or-less insisting on routing me through Manhattan to get home. Whipped out my Evo and could slowly load maps, but lots of "Data Connection" lost messages, and NEVER managed to get it to cough up a route. I had a good strong 3G signal, could hit the web quickly, and Sprint Nav worked ok although I prefer Maps' interface.

Did not inspire me to drop my stand alone unit, although I need to see how I could have more readily convinced it to find a more sensible route.

I posted thread on this the other day, but got no responses. Everytime I try to use Google Maps, Navigator, or Navigation, my phone will shut off and reboot. Not sure what's going on with these apps.

I had this same issue prior to the update. I had used unrevoked to root the phone and installed a free wifi hotspot app. Every time I launched a gps based app (maps, compass, redbox, nav, etc...) the phone would reboot. I had to do a factory reset to clear it up and haven't had the problem since. Since the update my 3g radio got stuck turning on and I had no 3g connection. I had to restart the phone to get it to reconnect. I used google nav yesterday and it worked perfectly. All my other gps based apps are also working without crashing the phone. One thing that happened while using google nav was, I made a call to the wife while nav was still running in the background and the phone reset. Not sure what that was about but I fired google nav right back up and it picked up right where it left off. I didn't try making a call again, though.

Give it up! Quit whining about it! It's all in your head...Android has this all under control.

i just uninstalled the google map update

and it seems to be great for few minutes, so i went back to work.

did something over lunch time, and bam! data connection lost, retrying

never had that happen to me the first few weeks of owning the phone

man..this is potentially a deal breaker (i am still in 30 day ) if they don't fix it soon

Same complaints on my Evo here in Baltimore. Also not loading tiles in BikeRoute, an app that uses GMap tiles.

same here in hawaii...used it last week with no problem...maps and directions rendered very very quickly...tried to use it today and at one point it actually started to work but when I tried to pan the remainder of the map would not load and I would constantly get a lost connection banner...i did get it to finally navigate to one location but when I wanted to navigate to the next it just wouldn't work for me...while layar renders just fine and very quickly
