"ghost" phone on account and can't find software updates

So I have read about other TB users that have re-activated the phone on their account only to find that it is "ghosted" meaning it doesnt actually show up as a Thunderbolt on My Verizon and when they search for the Gingerbread update, it just times out and goes back to the previous screen.

So what is the solution for this? I've talked to tech support twice now and the first time they were going to have an analyst look into it and give me a call back...which they didn't

And today they simply told me that I need to try a factory reset and if that doesnt fix it then the phone should be warranty replaced. Unfortunately, I've already tried this too and it still doesnt work.

I have found that when I reactivated my TB on my account from a Blackberry Tour, the phone is a grayed out ghost instead of showing the TB on My Verizon.
It also won't let me use Backup Assistant--it says the PIN is wrong--eventhough I know it is right.
The mobile My Verizon app also won't let me login--says account info is wrong eventhough i know it isn't.

Has anyone found a way to get the phone correctly linked back to their account and on the network so it functions properly?
