I have a Fascinate (obviously) however when viewing websites I am not able to view Gif's in the browser, when you click on a gif to view it shows as a picture and no animation. I have a stock phone, I have not rooted it due to it being a company phone, but I would still like to view Gif's. Is there another browser that supports gif's or is this due to Adobe Flash?

Unfortunately not. It's not a browser issue, as it also does not work in email apps, but with the phone not cycling the slides of animated images. You'll only see the first frame.

Sigh.....My Moto Droid was able to play gif's no problem. I have had this phone since October and am becoming disappointed more and more every day.

It surprises me that it cant play an animated gif considering that the phone is able to play a gif stored on the memory card.

Thank you for the help.

Wait until you try to zoom in on a detailed GIF.

I have a number of schematics that I carry that are in GIF format. I used to pop them open and zoom in on them on my old Windows Mobile phone. The viewer on this guy is so bad, when I zoom in, it is all pixelated. The files have the detail in them, just that the viewer sucks.

Yeah, you have to use a third-party image viewer to get proper image zooming. I don't believe this is a Fascinate/Galaxy S-specific problem, but it's annoying nonetheless.

What's interesting is I swore my Fascinate used to do animated gifs (just took a while to load all the frames into memory). But it hasn't since flashing to SC2.9. Anyone else observe this?

I've never been able to view animated gifs. I could leave it there all day and it would just stay on the first slide. Very annoying, considering what a powerhouse this phone really is.

You know, now that I think about it, I was thinking about my CrapBerry I had before this. I don't think gifs ever did work, or at least can't remember them working.
