GhostGregg - do not have it yet. And the way I keep putting the phone in Airplane mode for proper rest, I may not get it. IF and that is a HUGE IF, I do go into T-Mo, I will be there 1/2 hr before opening. As I've said across the net, it will look like the unemployment line meets social services meets there's a giveaway line.

I am not sure. More than likely I will stop in. The store is only 3 blocks from my house. I may pop in and just ask about it. They may be under some kind of instruction not to preform the manual update for folks asking about it. My gf works for t-mobile customer care and I may be able to play the employee card but I am not going to push it. As soon as I found out that the sense UI did not update I kinda lost a bit of interest. Now I am still deciding if I want to unlock it and install a custom sense 3.0 rom.

Well I am still waiting to read about that part as well. I mean, why else would they have the SD card if not for an update for those who don't want to nor know how to do it. At any rate, I am in no rush. The phone is fine as it is for me. I just have to stop adding so much free stuff from AAS.

The new market looks good even though it's luggish. Kinks to be worked out...

Yes. you can root and install custom roms, not for the faint of heart like myself though. LOL I dont have a lot of money to replace the phone if i brick it and am not really comfortable in my programming to really attempt this.
There is a guy here in town that does it, Im going to find out how much he charges lol.

Great info! Thank you! It looks like us on the West Coast may have to wait till Aug 15th though Oh well. I will check on the 6th to be sure but if the extra 9 day wait is what it will take.. then so be it.

I've been to two t-tmobile stores in my area, none of them have the memory cards with the 2.3.4 upgrade...

I Live in CA and went to a T-Mobile store, also doesn't have it. They said the other local stores also don't

Yes I've gone to a few stores and none of them have the update. One said they were never shipped, another said siad they were delayed by shipping and a 3rd said he didnt know what I was talking about...

Fantastic everyone! Glad to see that T-mobile is staying on top of this.... UGH! Really? I think one major factor in buying a new device from any carrier would be support. If they are not going to support their devices after a year or so then why even bother? I guess they figure in today's mobile econemy that most people will just upgrade to the newest phone every 2 years when their contract is over. Granted after about 3 years the technology on most phones is so obsolete that support for them almost seems like a waist of time and money. But The mytouch was the flagship for the t-mobile brand for so long.

I was too busy to check my local store today but will be doing it first thing in the morning. Thanks for the updates everyone.

I don't see why it's a surprise. There is usually a disconnect between corporate and retail. True for most carriers.

You guys should call ahead to make sure they have the update card before heading there. Save some time. I live in NY and I called ahead. The first store said they haven't received them yet, but will receive it probably in the middle of next week. The second store I called said they had it so off I went.

When I got to the store and asked for it, the guy knew about it but didn't seem to know much about how to install it. He wasn't even sure which SD card would have the file. He said one was for the G2x and the other might be for myTouch 4G. When I tried the first card, it said "Blank SD card." I tried the second one and it had files in it, but I wasn't sure how to install it. The T-Mobile rep didn't know how to neither. He said "it should just work." He called T-Mobile and they were of no help. He called a coworker who wasn't there but had previously helped another customer install it on another phone. The coworker told him that the instructions were printed and taped on one of the counters, which we found. So I had to do it myself using the instructions.

It's pretty simple. Before going to the store, remember to back everything up. Take out the battery of the phone, take your SD card out and replace it with the update SD card. Put the battery back in but don't power on the phone. Instead, hold the volume button and the power button together. It'll load the Bootloader. Follow the instructions and if it worked, it should say "Update Complete" and tells you to restart the phone. Restart the phone to make sure it works. It'll go back pretty much to a factory reset, as if you received a new phone. You'll have to set everything up again.

Our store received our SD card yesterday. In addition to my personal phone I updated 6 other customer's devices as well. So far so good on the myTouch 4G, I am also very pleased to report that my battery life is now much better.
My advice would be to call ahead and ask the store if they received the SD card.

I would just recommend that you back all your contacts up to gmail or even to your SD card. All of your pictures, music, and videos should already be on your SD card as well. And of course make sure that you know your gmail username and password, you would be surprised at how many don't

Awesome Updates everyone! Thanks for the info! I was way too tired from work to call today. I work graveyards and they retail store is not open on sundays here. I will be calling ahead tomorrow morning for sure now!

Keep updating with finds on the new update. Battery life seems improved. Thats a good start. What else seems improved?

I called one store already with no luck. The lady who answered didn't know what 2.3.4 was so I said the Android updates for the mytouch 4G. She said yes they had mytouch 4G in stock so I could come in and upgrade my device....after trying to explain to her that her company was sending out software updating sdcards for the mytouch 4G and G2X she said she didn't know and had to go and Hung up on me...not very nice if you ask me...

I called my local store and they did not have the cards in but atleast knew what they were and said they were ready to do the updates for customers when the cards arrived. She sounded like she knew what she was talking about. This seems to not be the case in most places.
