Gingerbread Rooted Issue

ok so here is the thing i tried to get the rooted gingerbread on my dx but i keep getting a error. First i moved the d/l file to my sd card i restart my phone after without the usb cable plugged in and hit ''apply sdcard :update.zip'' right after i do this i get a error stating

E:can't open /cache/recovery/command
--install from sdcard...
.Finding update packeage...
opening update package...
verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory)
E :signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

i formatted my sd card and cleared cache i have no idea what to do next any suggestions??

i did try and search for it as well before i made the thread...

Your opening the wrong file. You need to search for zip in SD.

You arent selecting the right file. You need to select Chose Zip from SD and remember what the file name is and install that one when u find it in the list, most likely towards the bottom
