I used Z4Root on my D2G and can't say enough about how tremendously easy that was to allow me root access.
That said, I don't use root for a lot, but I do consider it borderline essential especially for TI Backup Pro, SetCPU and Tasker (though that may not need root, actually), amonst other, minor apps. I don't use a custom ROM, and don't see the need.
So with that, if my D2G gets updated to Gingerbread (I assume soon), and there is no similar way to Root the VZW ROM, what are people using for those example apps in Ginger?
Basically, I don't feel like it's worth it for me to run Ginger on my phone if I can't have the control I want on it.
Thoughts?
