Gingerbread/Swype Emoticons?!

I know this seems really trivial...but does anyone know if we can get the emoticon button back? Its annoying having to press an additional button. I know it seems stupid, but I really miss my emoticon button!

I still see the emoticon button when using Google Talk. That's the only place I see it, though.
