Gingerbread Update is Getting Pulled for a Patch.

I just got off the phone with Verizon Wireless customer service and inquired about the fact that I missed the update by me hitting the remind me later button. I talked to a nice tech support rep named Tammi that walked me through the steps to force the update to my phone (take the battery out while powered on, wait 20 seconds, put battery back in, turn on and go to system update). Nothing happened. So she asked for the software number in my phone.

She then put me on hold to talk to HTC tech support. 5 minutes later she said that HTC knows about the problem and is halting the update and is going to release a new version that will patch this current version. They have my phone number on file and she said I can move my apps back to the SD card, as they don't have a date for the release of the patch for this release. She told me that I won't see this current release come back to my phone because HTC is pulling it. I hope that helps. She was very informed and actually was very helpful. The newer version will be a big uupdate with the patch cooked in. The Sprint app/ 4.3" screen issue is still being worked on as they know about it. The patch is also going to remove the Low on Space notification from what Tammi told me.

Geez I was wondering what was going on. Spent the morning postponing it and then sat down to update, selcted Update and then a fraction of a sec later it said my software was up to date! WTF I wondered, I second the TEST IT BEFORE RELEASING IT thought.

I updated this morning and so far everything works great. My DInc has NEVER booted so fast. It literally takes about 7 seconds to fully boot. Crazy, it's like having a new phone. The only reason I would even consider an upgrade would be to simply get on 4G LTE.

Good, that's been one of my biggest annoyances. Almost impossible to zoom in or out without it jumping to some other place on the page.

Pulling the update is for the best. It's stupid to break everyone's device while trying to fix it.

@vzwsupport u shoulda cr8td 1 big patch 4 DInc upgrade. many reporting busted upgrades. why VZW+HTC so lazy? 1 download that works, please!

Why on earth then did they push out the previous flawed GB update to a ton of folks over the past 24 hours?

This is exhibit A for why anything but a pure Google phone is a waste and a headache.

Thanks. I figured a lot of folks went through the same thing, so let me post my results and maybe help someone else out. Its funny you mentioned 20/20. I have an Associates degree in Broadcasting.
