give the cashier (four numbers), samsung pay

Been using Samsung Wallet on the watch 6. Lately, when trying to use it, I get the message to show the cashier four numbers. The problem is, I am trying to use a vending machine so the transaction is declined. I don't get it when using Google Wallet. any thoughts as to what is causing this?
Also, when switching default, I notice a setting to Pay on Open App (or something like that). Getting mixed results when doing an online search. Just was wonder what it does?

I've used Samsung Pay with my watch at grocery stores with self checkout and vending machines with no issues.

I did not have any issues either, until recently. I am beginning to think the last update did something. Nothing worse than having a decline when there is a line behind you.

I have the latest updates on my phone and watch and I used Samsung pay on my classic watch yesterday at three different grocery stores in the US (Costco, Trader Joe's, Safeway) with no issues. I just put my watch near the NFC reader and it worked without any need of giving numbers to anyone. Strange that you're have an issue
