I am looking at getting my son a GPS watch. Unfortunately, everything out there is pretty much junk from companies I've never head of, or has some insane monthly fee. We use AT&T for phone service, and they don't offer anything for this anymore. Verizon has the GizmoPal 2 from LG, which should be pretty good. But it says you have to be on Verizon. Has anyone tried running one of these through a Straight Talk plan? I really don't want to switch carriers for our main phones, since we'd have to replace our (paid-off) phones, and end up with a higher monthly bill. Verizon only charges $5/mo access for one of these, but it HAS to be an add-on, they don't offer a stand-alone service for it. Even if I get a smartphone plan for one using a Verizon SIM through straight talk, I'll still save money every month.
I don't want to be one of "those" helicopter parents, but I'd rather be safe than sorry! Please help!
