Thanks a lot, acejavelin. As to that XDA info, it somehow stuck in my memory that they reported exactly the same issue (inability to send texts) before the last OTA. Hopefully, we'll have some people who take their Rezounds abroad, try them there, and then post their experience. P.S. BTW, I think there used to be another thread or two about this whole issue w/ Rezound, but now I couldn't find them.

I kinda want to hit this hibernating horse one more time. If a plain vanilla global SIM causes the phone to ride on a different network when moving from country to country (say, AT&T in the US, Orange in GB, etc.), does this mean that APN has to be reset accordingly with every new network?

Yes. You will have to change the APNs manually for the appropriate carrier. In most aftermarket ROMs (and maybe the stock ones too) you can setup several APNs and just set the one you want to be active at the time.

The "global" mode in this phone is very hit and miss though, especially using AT&T in the US, many users including myself are not able to get better than Edge speeds, HSPA just doesn't work.

When I tried my global SIM here, in my own kitchen in Maine, all I wanted to see if I could make and receive calls and texts. I didn't care about the data. On AT&T, I was able to call and receive calls and to receive text, but not send texts out. And I didn't do anything about setting up the APN. Btw, the SIM app indicates that, say, VZW has half a dozen APNs. If the same is true for other networks, how does one choose the right one?

lol.. you use the APN appropriate for your SIM. The SIM carrier should provide you with the appropriate APN information. If you are using a O2 SIM in the UK you would need the appropriate APN for that SIM.

If I'm not mistaken, it was you who once kindly suggested the Offline APN SIM app. If you have it on your phone and run it, it states that your Verizon SIM has 10 associated APNs and suggests for you to pick one.

Wait... are you talking about using an official Verizon Global SIM or your Verizon LTE SIM? I have never tried that app with any of those, it is not surprising to me that the CDMA versions could have multiple APNs, they could be geographically located or model specific or whatever, Verizon CDMA phones program themselves.

I have only done it with AT&T, T-Mobile, Net10/Straight Talk SIMs, any GSM SIM (Verizon SIMs are NOT GSM to my knowledge) all of those require you to enter the APN information yourself and the APN information is specific to the SIM and/or carrier.
