FYI - I've been messing around a lot lately. Backing up, trying different setups, moving files around, blah blah blah... restore.
I noticed the Gmail app not syncing/or sending mail. I would receive mail, but anything I deleted would just show back up the next time I opened it. And nothing would send.
The fix? Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Gmail Storage... clear data.
