gmail app problems

I am running the gmail app on my EVO (2.1). I am having two problems. In the inbox, I have 2 emails from the same person. They showup combined in gmail on the web. On my EVO, they show up as one conversation with (2). When I open it, I see the later of the two. How do I see the earlier? The one I do see is not complete. I have seen this before. Any help would be appreciated.

I figured out how to get to both emails in the threaded conversation. I still have the problem where the later email of the threaded conversation is not complete. Am I missing something?
