Gmail app, stop fetching mail.

I cant find the setting to stop the mail from constantly searching for mail. I only want it to look for new mail when i load it in. Anyone know where to change this setting in the gmail app?

It's not in the app. It is under Settings >> Accounts >> Google >> (click on your email address) >> then turn off the switch for "Sync Gmail".

You might want to turn off the syncing for many of the other services as well.
