Gmail attachment size

So today I was going to send a photo to my wife from my EVO via the GMAIL app. The photo is 2.2mb, so, certainly not tooo large. However, when I go to attachment, it says "File too large to attach"

I don't get it, 2.2mb is not too large, but I cannot attach anything relatively close in size using the GMAIL app. It's rather annoying.

Any ideas?!?

I'm not sure why, I haven't tired to upload any big files through the app, maybe give mail.google.com a try from your phone's browser?

It's very possible the carrier added in a size limitation since I don't think there's a limit on stock android gmail app.

Yeah, I don't know. It's VERY frustrating...

I just did a test and was able to send a mp3 over 3MB big via the gmail app over wifi. My gmail app is the stock app because I stock vanilla android. (cm6 rom).
