Hello Everyone

I have had the nexus 10 for about 2 months but I still cannot figure out how to use my gmail contacts while composing mail. Like veryone I open gmail app and start composing a mail but it does now show my entire contacts from gmail. I noticed there are few people in the people app. I tried to export all my gmail contacts into an CVS file. However once people contact tries to import, it cannot locate the CVS file. Does anyone have any idea to fix this issue I am facing?

Thank you

I'm very new to Nexus, but I think that"People" takes the place of what is "Contacts" in gmail on a pc. However, if you want to send a gmail to "john jones", you just start typing jo...and as you type the name should appear in the address box.

That's what I did but nothing showed up. Then I noticed that contact is not in people app !!! Any idea?

Do you have your Google Account set to sync contacts? If so, *ALL* of your gmail contacts should be present on the device...

If you do have sync enabled and it's not working, then I would disable the contacts sync, delete data from the "people" app (or "contacts" or whatever it's called) on the device, then re-enable sync. That should get it working properly.

I thought I read on another forum that this was a known issue for gmail on mobile devices.

Maybe on *other* mobile devices (I honestly don't know), but you should have no problems syncing contacts for use in GMail on an Android device.

are you sure your tablet is using the same gmail account as the one with the contacts you are looking for?

Mine sync'd with no problems and that includes contacts, bookmarks, and Google voice. Did this about 10 days ago.

I have the exact same problem as the OP and just got off the phone with my sister trying to sort through it. Some contacts I can start to type their name and Gmail quickly figures out the address, while others nothing.

I just thought it was me until catching this post while searching out another issue.

To be clear all are other g-mail addresses too.

Suppose I can try to sync again.

Sorry, just remembered what I read. The contacts sync across devices but you can't use groups of contacts on mobile devices. For example, I have a group called Board, containing 9 email addresses, and I can type in Board when drafting an email on a PC browser. But no such luck from my mobile. Sorry for the confusion, and let me know if this works for anyone.
