Gmail deleting question

How do I make it so my gmail mobile app will allow me to permanenty delete my emails.

Right now if I delete on my phone then resync those emails had jusy deleted show up again.

Thats strange. When I delete an email in the Gmail app it goes into my Trash label automatically syncs... And thats how its supposed to work by default. Has this every worked properly? If so, try clearing your cache. Settings - Applications - Manage Applications - Running - Gmail - Clear cache.
