Since I have this phone (a little over 1 month) I have had GREAT battery life. I can easily go all day with my moderate / medium use.

Starting yesterday I noticed my battery was draining really fast. After looking at my battery stats, it shows Gmail is keeping the phone awake almost constantly. In the past, Gmail only took up a very small percentage.

I don't remember changing / updating anything recently (especially with Gmail). I have not changed any settings in Gmail. Just wondering if anyone is having this issue recently.

I have rebooted the phone as well as completely shutting it down & pulling the battery just in case something was stuck, but it is still keeping the phone awake and draining the battery.

Any suggestions?

I am Rooted / Stock if that makes a difference.

I would do this: Settings>apps>Gmail. Click force stop until you can get to a wifi source. Clear the cache for the app too.

I have the same issue on Droid Maxx. I have 3 yahoo accounts hooked up to gmail app. I went to Gmail settings & changed the yahoo email syncs to "Never" for all three. Restarted my phone. Then cleared the cache, for my phone. After all that, its still using 22% of battery. I plan to remove the app & re-add but, not hook my yahoo emails to my gmail app.

Try uninstalling and re installing the app
