Gmail Mark as read

Thought I would try the Gmail App. Found a weird thing I simply cannot find anywhere to mark as read or select all to do that for multiple emails. It must be there surely...

Long press multiple emails to highlight. Then an icon that looks like an open envelope on the upper right corner is the mark as read.

No. You can highlight multiple emails. After highlighting one, long press another email until it highlights.
