Gmail - no notifications

Gmail doesn't notify me when I get an email.

I won't know that I have one until I swipe the notification shade down and see it.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I have to refresh the gmail app to see new emails sometimes and others they pop right through and show the notification. It is not consistent.

Yeah check the simply things like it's not set for battery optimization and back activity on , to do that long press Gmail app tap storage then scroll to battery and tap there .also check you don't have power save modes on or the app is is set to sleep in device care settings.

If you long press the Gmail icon like I mentioned earlier it has other things to check , have you done that ?

I checked it. The notifications are showing up in the shade, they just don't pop up on screen with a notification when they come in.

Gmail is funny with notifications, sometimes I get none and sometimes I get them twice
