Question: When I am in the gym I connect my S4 to the wifi there. It is a very strong signal. However while on wifi I do not get my gmail pushed to me. I have to refresh to get it. This is a problem because a lot of my emails are time sensitive. Is there a setting that I am not aware of that would fix this? This did not happen with my previous phone ---the Droid RAZR. Thanks.

Could be their network. At work I have wifi in the break area... But... Some apps don't work due to ports being blocked. I even happened with Gmail but the IT Admin is a friend of mine so he opened the port... But mainly because he also wants his Gmail to :P.

But yeah if it only happens on that one network... It's their network not allowing the push. I'd suggest using your mobile data when at the gym to be safe.

I almost suggest that as well (using mobile data instead), but while I'm not the OP, I know that many like to use their phones to stream music while at the gym, so obviously wifi would be preferred.

I have to agree with Almeuit, however, that if it's only this particular network that it doesn't work on...it's probably an issue with the network itself and not the phone...whether it be a firewall or something else.

I have a similar problem, but it's not just gmail - it's any app. At work, we have wifi that requires login everytime; if I don't use it for a while, it signs me off. So, If my wifi is turned on, but not signed on to a network, the mobile data won't push through my email, facebook or even MMS. I'm forced to either switch off the wifi or sign on to the wifi network. Is there a fix to this? I can't find any settings that seem to be applicable.

Thanks.
