Gmail not updating server

So I had the problem on my S8 of not receiving new emails or notifications in gmail in a timely manner. I got some advice to "not optimize" the app. I honestly cannot remember what I did but now I receive emails in gmail immediately so that's good. But the weird thing is my phone does not update the server after I read/move/delete messages in gmail. If I go to my PC or iPad (it was free, don't hate me ) those messages still appear in my inbox as unread.

Anyone know how to fix this?

It will (should) update, it seems to take awhile at times. I have the same problem.
