Gmail notification

I'm using the GMail app but cannot find where to set a specific notification sound. I am able to set one on the email app that came with the phone but then I receive two on-screen notifications each time I receive an email. If I disable the orig. app. I receive a default/general notification sound. I could assign a sound to GMail on may old LG phone. Any clues?

Welcome to Android Central! Open Gmail, tap Menu>Settings, then tap your account, then Inbox Sound & Vibrate. You can set the Sound there.

You can also set different tones for different folders/labels. Go to Gmail's Settings, tap your account, then Manage Labels. If you select any of the labels, you have the option to set a specific tone for that label.
