GMAIL notifications in dock of Nova Launcher not working??

for my regular POP3 email I am getting my new email notifications at top of screen and also getting the bubble notification with with new mail count in the dock. For my GMAIL icon in the dock as well, its just showing new email notifications at the top and not on the icon in the dock?

already have it installed.... the slider is "on" for gmail as well..

Gmail might not be built like that.
