My Gmail notification sounds are not behaving well. I want a sound notification every time an email arrives at my inbox regardless of whether the screen is on or off...just like my Sony Xperia-X. I never had to set any special notifications in the Sony.

Now, the S10 Gmail sound rings only part of the time or when I lift the phone and turn it on. I don't want that.

Please help.

Hi,
I can suggest you look in the settings of gmail, and phone settings notifications are set properly.

Long press gmail app>tap info >go to notifications and tap
Go through those settings20190812_211007.jpeg

Sorry, app notification badges is greyed-out in the on position. It's not off.
Strange , ok go to phone settings tap on apps>tap 3 dots upper right corner>scroll to app preference and reset it , then test again

Thanks. Done. Bad news, Facebook is sending me notifications again. I hate that. Will have to get back to you later to see if it works for Gmail.

Hello mustang7757. I did the notifications reset you described. For a day I futzed around with settings setting every gmail notification to true; even activated "reminders" which apparently ding if you don't clear the notifications right away.

It's not perfect but I suppose I'll have to live with that. Funny thing, my old Sony Xperia dinged every time an email arrived in the inbox without touching any settings. It just did it. Now I have the "best" smartphone on the market costing nearly 3X as much as the Sony and it doesn't work right.

Thank you for feedback..

First thing I did was show system apps then disable all the Fb related- us fee more.

Some use Fb in web but not the resource hogging mobile app.

You can do a lot of fine tuning background batter power profile even override Do not disturb.

Sometimes when restoring or transferring from backup or another device there are little things that go bumpy

There is a Setting for how often notifications can happen. Was digging through AOD and Do Not Disturb. In 4 years with Sammy maybe new in 9.0 but never seen before. In Digital Wellbeing 》 Notifications
