Gmail or Outlook app for email?

I also use Nine. I use it for my work email account which is a Microsoft Office365 account. Nine has the most comprehensive feature set in an email app. It is extremely reliable, responsive and easy to use. It is constantly being updated. Out of the few apps I have paid for, Nine has been the most value for my money. I got it on sale years ago for $4.99, but I would gladly have paid more.

I use outlook now. Gmail became sluggish, and late email replies. I've linked the two up. I get a reply ASAP with outlook. Gmail can take hours.

Interesting. For me Gmail is not laggy really outlooks calendar function on the phone was just a bit weird and there was no search function either.

It must depend on the device maybe. I don't have that issue at all and Outlook doesn't sync as fast.

You know ironically, I just had an Outlook calendar syncing issue via Gmail application on my Galaxy S8! Basically I opened up my calendar widget and only my personal Gmail calendar events were shown, not anything in exchange! I'm trying out the Samsung email calendar app.

Well it is pretty good I have to say. People complain a lot about Samsung apps being forced upon us (and they are and shouldn't be) but when you don't resist them, you discover that some of them are pretty good! I use the Samsung Calendar with Google or Microsoft and I love it. I don't have Google Calendar installed at all.

All a question of preference of course. ;)

You know what, you're absolutely right! Samsung Galaxy applications are usually force on users which is horrible! I usually disabled on the bloatware on my S8. However just as you mentioned, when I voluntarily reactivated Samsung email and calendar application and synced up my Google and exchange account, I am noticing so far that The exchange sync is much smoother and faster. For example when I delete something on my desktop at work I do still have to go into the Samsung email application, but it auto refresh is by itself. Vs. In Gmail application where I have to open up the application, and pull down to refresh and then it syncs. That process is a bit annoying and frustrating. And I do enjoy how in the Samsung calendar widget it has a transparency which of course allows me to use a massive calendar widget on my home screen and see my beautiful wallpaper through it! all the other Samsung Galaxy applications in my opinion suck hahaha but these two so far are pretty good. in a couple of months, I'm looking forward to buying the OnePlus 6t unlocked on Verizon LTE I'm trying out OnePlus applications and maybe just the Samsung application.

Been using email by Edison since they launched. I'm ok with Outlook, but they lack of labels from Gmail.

As for Nine email app. I'm ok but they need to work out battery life issue. The app can't ask to run background 24/7 for push.

I use both, plus yahoo. Different accounts, one for ebay, PayPal, holidays/ business, and friends.

The Gmail app is designed to work with the Gmail server. The Outlook app is designed to work with Exchange server. Use one app with the other server and you have problems, some large, some small. You have to use the app designed for the server it's connecting to.

Ehh....my work email was all through Microsoft Outlook and worked way better with the Gmail app than the Microsoft app.
