Gmail Push Feature on Sense UI?

Looking to swith to an Android device from using BlackBerry, and this new phone has grabbed my attention, more so than the Moto Droid. However, I'm not familiar with the Sense UI, so I watched the videos and read the reviews on this site. My question is these reviews indicate the mail widget not having an option for Gmail. Does this actually affect the Gmail push capabilities that I have seen on the Moto Droid, or is it strictly just a widget option? Does the Sense UI allow for this, or should I stick with the Moto device running the vanilla platform to utilize the Gmail push feature? Thanks for any clarification I can get on this.

sense devices have pushed gmail, it's part of the android platform.
