Hi guys,

I just got my thunderbolt and I was wondering
is it possible to not use the gmail app
and have all the mail go into the main mail app?

seems as like when I sign into my google acct
it automatically sets up gmail.

You do have to have a Google account, but you do not have to use the Gmail email client application. Your Google account is required to make Market downloads.

Personally, I use the built-in HTC mail app for my Google account (gmail.com) via ActiveSync. You could also configure it using POP or IMAP. IMAP is preferable to POP. I prefer ActiveSync.

great thanks for the input frank :)
- i ended up creating the google acct and then disabled all
sync in settings

how does the email app on the tb work?
- does it have the ability to get email as soon as they come in?
- or does it have to be setup up on a sync schedule?

A few rom flashings ago, i pulled up the stock email app, signed in using my gmail email, and password, and it worked like it was made for it. It retrieved my gmail with no issues or problems.

The Gmail app is push email, if you rely on gmail then it is a good option. If, like me, it is secondary then you can relegate it to imap or pop in the regular (or for me maildroid) app without concern. I needed better email for my other accounts more than i needed better gmail

appreciate the info.

- I have filters setup in gmail and I just noticed
that only emails that come into my inbox get sent
to the TB via the regular maildroid app.

Is there any way to get the emails that are filtered
sent to my TB as well?
