How do I delete email I've sent to various people? After selling and responding to items I've sold locally and on eBay as well. I send responses to people I don't really know other than the transaction. How can I delete the history of sent mail? Thanks ahead of time. I appreciate it.

Here's my response to what I think that you are asking:

Once you are done with a particular email item in Gmail, you change the label to 'Trash' or delete it (using the check-box to the left of the conversation). This moves it to the 'Trash' folder. There isn't a way from the Gmail app to empty the 'Trash' folder, that I know of. You can do that from the computer by the 'Delete Forever' button. Make sure that the items aren't in another label as well so that they can be completely erased.

If I have misunderstood, please let me know, but I think that this is what you are asking for.

*Edit* - Items that are put in the Trash folder are deleted automatically after 30 days.

That's what I'm aiming at. The 1st contact is who I'm sending to. The lower contact is someone that I replied to about a transaction.

Are those contacts stored (the one's you want NOT to show up) in your Google contacts?

They might be under 'Other Contacts' in the desktop app. If so, you can delete them and that should take care of the issue. (I would think).

The way to stop this from happening is to go to your Gmail settings, under the General tab (about 3/4 down the page), change 'Create Contacts for Auto-Complete' to 'Ill add contacts myself'.

Hope this helps.

They weren't. I went into contacts, send contacts. From there I was able to see these unknown contacts. Thank you for the push in the right direction.

To clear them you have to log into gmail.com and on the lower left side is a "conversations" list. Remove the emails from that list and they should no longer show up. I had the same problem.

Depends on if you used the Gmail app or just the mail app?.

If you used the Gmail app, you can log into your PC and go to Gmail and go to trash and empty it there. (check IMAP/Trash and Trash)

If you used the Mail app (and you added Gmail as an account):

1. Go into MAIL app

2. Pick your Gmail account

3. Pick MENU

4. Pick FOLDERS

5. Pick TRASH

6. Pick EMPTY FOLDER
