Gmail syncing issues

Just bought the V10, setup everything that I had on my Note 3, including my Gmail account. Now Gmail does not notify immediately when an email arrives. I've gone into the Google account settings, and do not see anywhere where I can set the frequency of syncs. Anybody have any ideas how to get it to instantly notify me of incoming emails?

Thanks in advance!

I've noticed over the past week or so that Gmail essentially stops syncing for me overnight and the problem will continue until I go in and manually sync the account, then it will work perfect all day. However, the problem will start all over again each night.

Like I said this is a recent occurrence. I've had the V10 since early December with no issues from Gmail until about a week ago. Didn't have this issue on my G4 either.

I also have 2 Hotmail accounts that sync using exchange services in the Gmail app and they work just fine.

Gmail is push so there isn't a frequency setting. I honestly haven't figured out the problem or why it just started.

A lot of V10 users have this issue. There are threads on WiFi issues and IPv6 on your router.

Try turning off wifi and send yourself an email. Should get a notification right away.

Turning off IPv6 worked great for me.

Interesting. I was 100% certain that ipv6 wasn't the issue for me because I have it disabled on my router and the issue just started in the last week.

It's so weird because it's only at night. Once I refresh it manually in the morning, email comes thru just fine all day. Go to sleep and wake up the next morning to the same issue.

Not sure if it's phone related or maybe a Gmail issue.

I had this problem. Turns out it was Opera Max that was the problem.

I have this same issue on my LG V10, plus my Samsung Tab S2. So like others said it must be google.

Are you using the stock email app or the Gmail app?

Gmail works perfectly for me every time but the stock app won't even connect with the servers no matter how I setup the accounts.

I have a LG G Stylo on T Mobile and everything iv tries to get gamil to sync has not worked. I have tried every suggestion from google to other gmail users suggestions. Gmail synced fine for about 3 months then stopwd ayncing at all unless i opened gmail. My LG was also updated to Android 6.0 and stull no fix.

I tried,
Checking and rechecking all sync settings and notification settings.

I made sure gmail folders were set to sync.

I cleard the app cache and even cleared gmail data.

I removed and re added my gmail account to my phone.

I tried just data and just wifi.

Rebooting the phone all in between all of this.

Last 5 months, gmail has been a fail with both lolipop and marshmellow. I also do not run many apps on my phone. No facebook or twitter, or any games.

Here's what fixed it for me: under manage labels, choose your label that isn't syncing and select sync none. Once I did that, it started auto syncing the label. Go figure.

I'll piggy back off of this to say that my issue was inside Gmail Settings/[your e-mail]/Manage Labels/Inbox/Notify for every message

For me I received notifications some 8 hours after I received the e-mails. After I 'checked' this box, the issue went away completely. It seems that the issue isn't sync, but that it's just not notifying you.

Edit: I should clarify to say that I did 'uninstall updates' on gmail, which is as good as uninstalling the app, before I did what I said above. But, I do not feel that had an effect on my results.
