Gmail uninstall can it be done?

Can you remove the gmail app and the reinstall it as a .apk or through the play store? Having issues with it right now.

Assuming your phone is rooted, you should be able to do that. A few roms I've flashed have not had gmail and required download from the playstore. I don't know if deleting the .apk will make the app show as uninstalled in the playstore, though, so if not, you could run into a potential error.

Install titanium backup, backup gmail with TB, use TB to uninstall Gmail. Reboot. Reinstall Gmail from the play store.

Just noticed that there is version 1.0 and the updated version as well. Should I backup and uninstall both?

You should only need to uninstall 4.5.2.

As long as you back them up it shouldn't hurt. If something goes wrong just restore them.

I see that I have Gmail and gmailspells. Are you sure your have two gmails?
