Iam not cynical for being rooted...it's just that I don't know the entire process as I never really felt the need of it...but since I hear everyone gets rooted, the thought did cross my mind....again I don't know which rom to choose n all...that's it...just a newbie to root I suppose...

Hey, just so you know, obtaining root is NOT that difficult. For me, the hardest part was finding the correct driver to use on my computer (no, not kidding), and figuring out which ones I needed to delete in order for that driver to work. That was the hardest part, after that the rest was easy. There are TONS of good posts here on the forums that I read (probably spent a week's worth of my evenings reading up on it before I attempted it)

Oh yeah, and just so you don't think I'm a pro or anything.... I got my Gnex (first Android device ever) in April. Less then 2 months later I decided to bite the bullet and root my phone.

And as far as ROMs go, I highly recommend AOKP. Cyanogenmod (aka CM) is good to but I prefer AOKP. Good luck !
