Hi Guys

I'm running a Verizon Wireless Galaxy Nexus running CM10.1 which is the newest version of Jelly Bean. It was running great until recently. Now it's getting all bogged down. Trebuchet crashes every now and then, but it's more that it's so bogged down when changing programs.

Is there an app that I can get to optimize my phone to run faster or figure out what the culprit is?

LMK

Thanks!

Been doing full wipes when flashing or dirty? Clean flash if you haven't been.

If you feel really adventurous you can back up everything and do a full factory image restore, then flash the ROM you want. I found doing that every 4-6 months would clear things up very nicely, let's the phone wipe everything and repopulate every partition from scratch.

Ugh. I really don't have time for that. Is there an app that can tell me what program is hanging everything up? Thanks for the response though.

Don't have time for what? Just doing a clean flash? If you've just been dirty flashing then sooner or later you need to do a clean flash. Things slowing down, getting random FC's, etc are all symptoms of dirty flashing. Sometimes you can get away with it, even for a while, but every ROM flash is supposed to be done cleanly and you run the risk of running into issues every time you don't do a full wipe, especially when you've been doing it many times without one full wipe in between.

Use Titanium Backup and get in the habit of doing clean flashes. Shouldn't take more than 20-30 minutes to get back up and running as you like it.

I agree with 2def. Wipe that ish.

Actually, I copy everything from my SD after backing everything up, over to my laptop... then relock/unlock every few months. Then just copy everything back afterward, and set it back up. If you flash often, it's just a good habit to get into to keep your device nice and buttery.

I just spent the last 3 hours going back to 4.1.1 stock then up to 4.2.2 (had more than my fair share of troubles along the way) and now its running at least 5 times better than it has ever before, granted I haven't put it through a full days test but it seems like it is going to be much better then before. I would hands down say to just go back and redo everything from scratch, just get on Netflix and find some good shows to catch up with

That's always a good way to go - a complete cleanse is medicinal :).

OP: try the very latest version of either AOKP or CM 10.1. There was an actual issue with something on the system level eating up RAM. I was experiencing the same thing as you, and no matter what I tried, performance was abysmal. However, the latest builds of these ROMs have fixed the issue. I'm on the 5 March build of Bigxie's AOKP PUB build, and things are running GREAT.
