IMHO, I don't believe there is another device on the market like the Note, so I'll guess you'll be back to using a mere smartphone.

Will do. Don't get me wrong, I really did like the device, there were just a few things I didn't want to live with. Some things I was really impressed with about the device:
I did a test doing the exact same actions on my Droid 2 and the Note. I played the same videos on Youtube, did my usual tasks like check email, hit websites, etc. When the test was done the Note had 81% battery life and my Droid 2 80% (though the Droid 2 doesn't display increments like 83% etc). So the battery life was rather decent having such a large screen and also being on 4G, my Droid 2 was on 3G.
The device response was quite fast, faster than my Droid 2 of course. I've seen some complain about lag but I didn't have any myself.
4G was killer fast.
Typing was a cinch when using a 3rd party keyboard like Smart Keyboard, and I hate virtual keyboard typing. The size just made it work so much better than on smaller phones.
GPS lock on was insanely fast, almost instant! My Droid 2 takes several seconds to obtain positioning.
There was some more but I'll stop there.

I love my note but there are 3 things that bug me:
1. Placement of on/off button
2. AT&T delayed ICS ( I should have gotten the Intl version (my area doesn't have Lte anyway)
3. Standard size sim when new phones are going with micro sim
For me, #3 is a big problem because I came from Iphone4s and like to switch back and forth. Also, the 2 new android phones, the GS3 and the HTC 1X also use the micro sim. This would not be a problem in Europe where you can get dual sims with one phone number or if the sim slot on the Note was made to support the sim in the adapter. There are many reports of broken sim slots when trying to use adapters.

Just in case any developers peruse this thread for ideas..... as I said earlier, the navigation buttons below the screen when using s memo drive me crazy. I'd pay for an app that would make them useless while writing in S memo mode. While you're at it, I'd love if the button on the stylus could toggle the eraser. Just food for thought, I hope!

None here. My Note locks onto GPS really fast. I live about 30 miles east of Dallas.
I use the Note when I run and rely on the GPS signal daily.
Galaxy Note! Phone. Tablet. Planner. Notepad. eReader. The only device I need!
Keyboards suck!- HTC Sense keyboard would be awsome!

The power button is really the only thing I can think of that is really a "stupid" design flaw. There are always things you wish it could have (e.g. faster processor, more memory, bigger battery, etc.) but these are all things that aren't bad but you wish you had even more. Sort of like you can never be too rich or too thin.
But the placement of the power button is just ... silly. It really is a design flaw. The only real flaw in an otherwise awesome device.

About 1/4 of the time my screen will detect the s-pen while it's up to 1/2 inch above the screen. This usually results in a line being drawn across the screen that I didn't want or random text characters being selected from the keyboard.

No ICS yet and no solid word on when.
Other than those three things....Nothing to complain about.

For me its easily the power button placement. Should have been placed at the top of the phone. I'm always accidently hitting it.

I seem to be having issues with my Jawbone bluetooth headset disconnecting randomly. It also takes a long time to connect initially when I turn it and my bluetooth on the Note on.
I too dislike the power button placement and also feel that the camera is slow. I haven't been able to get more than 12 hours out of my battery either and I'm not even really using the Note like I could be, which is a lot more. (email all on exchange/push, rarely use bluetooth, rarely use wifi, rarely take notes, only make about 4 or 5 phone calls per day, still draining the battery).
If I had my way, a 5" version with a dedicated camera button would be my choice. A little easier to use one handed (which is virtually impossible now).
I don't understand why they couldn't have put a larger battery in either. I mean the Droid Razr Maxx has a much larger battery and it's still thin. Function over fashion for me please.

touchwiz just does not look as polished as other UI's
confusing settings just to set it into usb drive mode

because android is very open sourced i spent the first week of ownership going over mods..
-first thing was a case.. i no longer hit the power button at all.. by accident at least

You can take a screen shot by putting the side of your right hand (like a karate chop) on the right side of the screen. Then swipe across to the left like you're wiping off the screen. Do it a couple times till you get the hang of it and it's very fast.
its my first time using a android based device. but here are my top 3.

create a period or line that i don't want there.
2. Gamut spectrum of the black part is very very poor. in videos. where it gets
very dark(black with out detail), it clips. even in some images. instead of having a gradation that part becomes a black patch. As a person that is very
anal about what l see, and have a job that takes some part in reproducing color as close
to what we can see in spectrum of our monitor, this is just not acceptable.
3. The phone Lags here and there with not so good battery life.
